How We Source and Select Wood
Material quality determines product quality. Before any wood enters our workshop, we check three things: moisture content (8–10% target — too wet and it warps, too dry and it cracks during machining), visual defects (knots, splits, discoloration, insect damage), and dimensional accuracy. Batches that do not meet spec are rejected before labor is spent on them.
We work primarily with pine, paulownia, acacia, bamboo, birch plywood, walnut, and oak. Each species has different machining characteristics, weight, grain appearance, and cost. Pine machines cleanly and takes finish evenly — our default for cost-effective production. Paulownia is lightweight with a pale, smooth surface that takes paint well. Bamboo offers surface hardness comparable to hard maple (~1,380 lbf Janka) and a modern linear grain. Walnut and oak are reserved for premium products where the wood itself communicates quality.
For engineered wood products, we use birch plywood for its uniform surface and dimensional stability, bamboo plywood for sustainability positioning, and MDF for painted-finish boxes at the most competitive price point. Material choice directly affects per-unit cost, shipping weight, durability, and the final product's perceived value — we help clients navigate these trade-offs during the quoting stage.
Custom Manufacturing Capabilities
Every product we make starts from a client's specifications — we do not hold inventory or sell from a catalog. This means your design defines the output. You choose the wood species, external dimensions, wall thickness, lid or closure type, surface finish, interior configuration, hardware, and branding method. We provide material and design guidance based on our production experience, but the final decisions are yours.
Our workshop handles the full production cycle: panel cutting, CNC routing, edge profiling, joinery (finger joints, dowels, nails + glue, screws), sanding through progressive grits, finishing (stain, paint, varnish, oil, torching), hardware installation, laser engraving or branding, and final quality inspection. By keeping everything in-house, we control quality at every stage and avoid the delays and inconsistencies that come with outsourcing production steps.
We support OEM (you provide the design) and ODM (we help develop the design from your concept). Whether you have a finished CAD file or a rough sketch on paper, we can translate it into a production-ready specification. Pre-production samples let you verify every detail before committing to a bulk order. Standard MOQ is 200 pieces per design for first-time orders, with flexibility for repeat clients and simpler designs.
International Shipping and Logistics
We ship worldwide and offer FOB, CIF, and DDP terms. For most clients, sea freight (FCL or LCL) provides the best balance of cost and transit time. Full container loads minimize per-unit freight cost for larger orders. Less-than-container-load shipments work for smaller volumes — your goods share container space with other cargo. Air freight is available for urgent orders, and express courier (DHL, FedEx, UPS) handles sample shipments.
Products are individually wrapped or sleeved to prevent surface-to-surface contact, then packed in export-grade corrugated cartons with internal dividers. We provide packing lists, commercial invoices, and certificates of origin — everything your freight forwarder or customs broker needs.
Typical transit times: 25–45 days by sea to North America and Europe (excluding customs clearance), 5–8 days by air, 3–5 days by express courier for samples. We coordinate with your nominated forwarder or recommend trusted shipping partners if you need one.
Common Questions Before You Order
Can I mix different sizes or designs in one order?
Each design variation counts as its own SKU with its own MOQ. However, if multiple sizes share the same wood, finish, and construction method, setup costs are lower because tooling and material procurement overlap across the variants.
How do I get started if I have never sourced from China before?
Send us your idea — a sketch, a reference photo, a link to a similar product, or a description of what you need. We will walk you through material options, design feasibility, pricing, and the sampling process. No prior importing experience needed — we guide new clients through the entire process.
Can you help with product design if I only have a rough idea?
Yes. Many of our clients come to us with nothing more than a reference image and rough dimensions. We provide structural suggestions, material recommendations, and technical drawings as part of the quoting process. The pre-production sample is your opportunity to hold the product in your hands and adjust before committing to bulk production.
How long does the whole process take from idea to delivery?
Design consultation and quoting: 1–2 days after receiving your requirements. Sample production: 7–10 days. Bulk production: 25–45 days after sample approval. Sea freight: 25–45 days to most ports. Total timeline from first contact to receiving goods is roughly 10–14 weeks for a typical first order. Repeat orders are faster since sampling is already done.
